He finished it in just three days after rising at six in the morning to write the first draft by hand while his wife Sasha wrote it on a typewriter. Producers originally intended to cast big-name stars like Robert Redford or Burt Reynolds for the featuring part, but Stallone set on playing it. His persistence paid off, as he eventually signed with a production firm and became the movie’s star. Stallone’s career took an unexpected swing after Rocky’s victory.

He visited Butkus’s new owner without hesitation; however, at first, he faced resistance. Finally, a $3,000 deal allowed Butkus to get back.
Finding it “worth every penny,” the actor got back together with his beloved buddy. Unexpectedly, the previous owner also managed to secure an appearance in Stallone’s film, appearing as an extra in the pre-credit scenes. In addition to healing a relationship, this heartwarming reunion helped a unique chapter to Stallone’s career achievement.

Stallone’s beloved pet, Butkus, played Rocky Balboa’s mascot in Rocky and Rocky II, acting with him and demonstrating their unquestionable connection. During their walks off-screen and on-screen relationships, Stallone’s eyes showed the affection that both of them shared. Unfortunately, Butkus passed away after a heart attack in 1981.
